Thousands of aviculturists from all over the world met in Netherlands again on 20th February 2016. One of two biggest European bird markets takes place in Zwolle twice a year – in February and September. The event is held in two big halls with more than 10 000 square meters, the selling tables are 2300 meters long in total. As usually, ParrotsDailyNews visited this bird market and brings you photos and information about offered birds.
If you decide to visit this event in September then diversity of offered birds is more varied. The breeding season in European countries mostly ends in summer and therefore more birds are for sale in autumn than in winter. However, the number of species you can see in Zwolle is still stunning.
Most of offered birds are parrots, of course. However, you can see also exotic finches, softbills and many other birds.
Zwolle city has over 100 000 inhabitans and is found 120km north of Amsterdam. The event takes place in a large hall Ijsselhallen. Everybody who wants to sell birds from a table has to register on this website a month in advance. The price for one meter of selling place is 10 euro and you need to buy at least 2 meters. If you are just a visitor then you can reserve an adult ticket for 7 euro on the internet or buy it at the hall for 8 euro. Parking costs 8 euro.
